16 March 2015 [13:00] - TODAY.AZ

Economic and regional issues will be discussed during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iran, the Turkish TV channel Haber7 said Mar.16.

Erdogan will visit Iran on April 7, according to the channel.

Also, it is expected to discuss prospects of cooperation in the fields of transport, customs and tourism sector during the visit.

In addition, the Syrian crisis and the actions of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS, formerly ISIL or ISIS) will be discussed.

The “Islamic State” penetrated Syria’s territory in 2013. The organization said at the time it refuses to take the oath of Al-Qaeda and declared “a holy war” against all groups and government forces of Syria. Strengthening of the IS in Syria allowed it to return to Iraq, deploying military actions against government forces there.

In late June of 2014, the IS announced about the creation of the ‘Islamic Caliphate’ on the territories under its control in Iraq and Syria. In turn, Iraqi authorities asked the international community for help in fighting the IS.
