"Armenians are massively leaving their country!" this is not a breaking news anymore in Armenia since it is a long time that the emigration is standing at the top list of problems which Armenian society is facing today.

The latest data revealed that about 40,000 residents have departed the country during the past ten months. Emigration has turned into an unfortunate reality facing the government and population of the post-Soviet state.

The local media reported that emigration in Armenia is gaining a new momentum amid new reports on the colossal outflow.

The Central Department of the Civil Aviation published new official data which reveals that nearly 40,000 Armenians have permanently left the country over the past ten months of this year.

Official statistics data had earlier reported that about 113,000 residents left Armenia in January-September of 2014 and large number of them refused to return. Nearly 60,000 emigrants out of 110,000-120,000 people, who leave the country each year, see the outflow as a door opening to a better life.

Local Zoghovurd paper wrote the number of residents that departed Armenia on planes reached 30,000 during the same period of the last year. This year's figure, in fact, shows the number of emigrants increased by 36 percent, deepening the emigration challenge in the South Caucasus state.

Analysts believe that the number of permanently emigrating residents will reach 50,000 by the end of this year.

The Sociometer Sociological Center's latest investigation exposed the real social hurdle in the country characterized by 42 percent of malnourished and 32 percent of poor people.

Vast majority of the population receive only 142 calories a day, which is extremely below the internationally recognized norm of 2,232 calories intake per day.

Emigrating from the country should be explained with some substantiated reasons. no one leaves his or her country for enjoyment. In this case, only two evil facts - hunger and poverty- are enough for the post-Soviet residents to leave their homeland.

The Armenian authorities have always cherished the dream of creating "big Armenia" with an immense territory and multi-million population. But they barely succeeded to keep alive their "tiny Armenia" on the background of increasing external dependence and surging outflow of its residents. Now, nearly 3 million people live in the modern Armenia and most of them wish to live beyond their motherland.

They say "Dreaming is not harmful", but the authorities' dreaming of a "big Armenia" harmed the people, making them leave their small country.
