Midterm elections to Georgian Parliament scheduled for April

Three vacant seats of majoritarian MPs in the Parliament of Georgia will be possible to complete in April 2013. The relevant changes in the Electoral Code about the midterm elections were approved by parliament on Friday in the third and final hearing.

Before this holding of mid-term elections, which include the election of retired deputies, was only in October.

Under the adopted changes, the midterm elections may be held twice a year - in April and October. In particular, if the powers of deputy will be terminated from 15 February to 15 July, the midterm elections will be held in October of that year, otherwise - in the near April.

Currently, in the parliament seats of majoritarian MPs of Nadzaladevi, Samtredia and Bagdati are vacant, elected majoritarian MPs were moved into the executive branch.

Elections in these regions will be held in April, after which the parliament members list will be filled up to 150 deputies.

In the coming year from the State budget allocated 47.5 million lari to Central Election Commission ($ 1 = 1.66 lari).
