Azerbaijan invests $138 mln in Georgia's economy

Azerbaijan ranked second in terms of volume of direct investments in Georgia in 2011, Georgian Statistic Office told Trend on Wednesday.

Azerbaijan as a whole has invested $138 million, representing 12 percent of all foreign direct investment, in Georgia's economy,

The Netherlands ranks first in terms of investment in Georgia in 2011 - $241.8 million. Denmark ranks third - $97.2 million

Russia has invested $55.4 million in Georgia last year.

In total, Georgia has received $117.0 million from investors in 2011, increasing by 14 percent compared to 2010.

The largest volume of investments in Georgia accounts for the energy sector - $204 million. Growing trend of investing in health care and construction was also observed.

Foreign direct investment totaled 7.8 percent of GDP in 2011, increasing by 0.8 percent compared to 2010.
