Japan ready to continue cooperation with Azerbaijan

Japan`s ambassador in Baku Shusuke Watanabe has expressed his country`s readiness for further cooperation with Azerbaijan.  Watanabe met members of the Azerbaijan-Japan inter-parliamentary friendship group, including its head, rector of the Baku State University Abel Maharramov and MPs Hadi Rajabli, Aslan Jafarov, Imamverdi Ismayılov, Flora Gasımova, Eldar Guliyev and Ali Masimli.

The Ambassador praised the Azerbaijan-Japan relations, in particular the two countries` cooperation in the field of education.  He lauded the activity of the inter-parliamentary friendship group. The Baku State University`s rector said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attached particular emphasis to developing relations with Japan.

Maharramov praised the Baku State University`s cooperation with higher educational institutions in Japan, saying “the Baku State University is fruitfully cooperating with a number of Japanese higher educational institutions.” “Japanese language has been taught at our University since 2000. The University has turned out 69 specialists in Japanese language so far.” “We also plan to send several students to higher educational institutions in Japan,” Maharramov added. The participants of the meeting decided to establish Japanese Culture Center at the Baku State University.
