Azerbaijani-Irish ties mulled

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Irish ambassador to Azerbaijan with residence in Ankara Thomas Russell. Mammadyarov congratulated Ireland as this country is taking over the OSCE chairmanship in 2012.

The ambassador for his part congratulated Azerbaijan on its election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. He hailed the fact that Azerbaijan managed to reach so high level of development within short span of time. The Irish diplomat expressed confidence the Irish chairmanship would be constructive.

Mammadyarov highlighted the role of international organizations in resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute, underscoring the need to solve the problem on the basis of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
