Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev holds series of meetings - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received President and Chairman of the Management Board of Russia`s VTB Bank Andrey Kostin.

The parties underlined significance of the 4th Baku International Banking Conference of CIS member states on “Financial markets of the CIS: roads to sustainable development in the context of global instability”, adding Kostin`s visit will contribute to expansion of cooperation between VTB Bank and Azerbaijan`s financial institutions.

President Ilham Aliyev has today received credentials of Vietnamese ambassador to Azerbaijan Pham Xuan Sean. The Head of State underlined friendship and cooperative relations between Vietnam and Azerbaijan have long history, saying these ties marked a new era of development. President Ilham Aliyev pointed out Azerbaijan is interested in expansion of the Azerbaijan-Vietnam relations.

The ambassador offered Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang`s greetings to the Azerbaijani leader. The Vietnamese diplomat pointed out national leader Heydar Aliyev enjoys great respect in the country, saying he had met with the great leader when he was an ambassador to Turkey. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received credentials of newly-appointed ambassador of Denmark Ruben Madsen. The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor.
Madsen handed over his credentials to the Head of State. President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador.

The Head of State pointed out relations between Azerbaijan and Denmark successfully develop. President said there are good opportunities to expand cooperation in various fields, particularly, in the economic one within the framework of European Union. The Azerbaijani leader expressed hope for boosting these ties during Mr. Madsen`s tenure.

The Danish diplomat conveyed greetings and best wishes to the Head of State from Her Majesty Queen Margrethe of Denmark, noting existence of ‘good cooperation’ between the two countries. Madsen hailed Azerbaijan`s rapid economic growth and highlighted that he would spare no efforts to further deepening ties during his tenure. The Head of State asked the diplomat to pass on his greetings to the Queen of Denmark.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received credentials of newly-appointed ambassador of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome. The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor. Teshome handed over his credentials to the Head of State. President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador.

The Head of State thanked the Ethiopian government as it supported Azerbaijan when the country was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. President Ilham Aliyev wished the Ethiopian diplomat every success in his further activity and expressed hope Azerbaijan-Ethiopia relations would develop during his tenure.

Mr. Teshome conveyed greetings to the Head of State from the Ethiopian President Girma Wolde-Giorgis. The ambassador underlined existence of mutual interests in strengthening ties between the two countries in all spheres. The Head of State asked the diplomat to pass on his greetings to the Ethiopian President.

President Ilham Aliyev has accepted today the credentials of new ambassador of Bangladesh Zulfigur Rahman. President Aliyev made conversation with the ambassador, during which he described the level of relationship between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh as `good`. He added the two countries had active cooperation within the UN and other international organizations.

The Head of State expressed confidence that relations between Azerbaijan and Bangladesh would further continue to develop. President Aliyev stressed the necessity of increasing efforts to expand bilateral relationship in all spheres. The Azerbaijani President also expressed hope that good results would be achieved in all spheres, including the economic one during Zulfigur Rahman`s tenure in Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Rahman congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan`s securing a seat on the UN Security Council. The diplomat said his country would continue to support Azerbaijan on resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Rahman also thanked the Azerbaijani President for backing Bangladesh in various international forums.

The Head of State, in turn, thanked the Bangladeshi government for the resolution adopted on settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and support it gave to Azerbaijan when the country was elected as a member of the UN Security Council.

The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor.  Mrs. Almeida handed over her credentials to the Head of State. President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador.

Portuguese Ambassador highlighted existence of great potential for development of relations between Azerbaijan and Portugal, adding the delegation including Portuguese businessmen accompanies her during the visit. The Head of State underlined the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries in various spheres. President Ilham Aliyev expressed assurance for deepening of these ties during Mrs. Almeida`s tenure.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received credentials of Algerian ambassador Mouloud Hamai. The Head of State underlined Azerbaijan-Algeria relations are successfully developing, adding both countries cooperate effectively within a variety of international organizations. President Aliyev thanked the government of Algeria for supporting Azerbaijan`s candidacy for the non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

President Ilham Aliyev noted there are good opportunities for development of bilateral relationship in all spheres. He expressed hope that these ties would expand during Hamai`s tenure. The ambassador conveyed Algeira`s President Abdelaziz Bouteflika`s greetings and best regards to the Azerbaijani leader. He pledged to spare no efforts to cultivate bilateral relations.President Ilham Aliyev, for his part, asked the ambassador to pass on his greetings to his Algerian counterpart.

Seth Koranteng handed over his credentials to the Head of State. President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador.

The ambassador conveyed greetings to the Head of State from the President of Ghana John Evans Atta Mills and pointed out that his country is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan. Ghanaian diplomat stressed the development process in Azerbaijan made a great impression on him.

The Head of State underlined Azerbaijan also is interested in boosting ties with Ghana and thanked the Ghanaian government as it supported Azerbaijan when the country was elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
