Sadullah Ergin: Azerbaijan will also represent Turkey at the UN Security Council

Turkish Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin, who is on a trip to Azerbaijan, visited the graves of Heydar Aliyev and academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the Alley of Honors, the Memorial to Turkish soldiers and Martyrs’ Alley.

Sadullah Ergin was moved when he saw the grave of a martyr from Van and said: “Once Van and other regions of Turkey helped Azerbaijan, now Azerbaijan is helping Van.”

Turkish Minister said a number of issues had been discussed at the meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Justice Minister Fikrat Mammadov, he had offered congratulations on the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s state independence, Azerbaijan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.

“We are glad that Azerbaijan has been elected. Azerbaijan will also represent Turkey there. Turkey also supported Azerbaijan when it was non-permanent member of the Security Council,” he said.

Speaking about the quake in Van, Sadullah Ergin said the seismic resistance of the buildings was being investigated in Turkey. “The investigations have been underway since 2005,” he said.

The guest said there was no problem between Turkish and Azerbaijani justice ministries, but there was loss of time in some matters. “Therefore, we have decided to realize practical cooperation,” he said.

Sadullah Ergin said they had entrusted representatives with accelerating the handover of the prisoners between the two countries.
