Azeri MP meets with Swedish parliamentarian

Visiting Sweden, member of the Azerbaian`s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Ganira Pashayeva on Saturday met with this country`s MP, Vice-Chair of the Committee for European Union Affairs, member of the Board of Liberal People`s Party Count Carl Peter Bastiat Hamilton.

Pashayeva noted during the conversation that Azerbaijan was the first country in the Orient to create a democratic republic, grant women`s suffrage. She underlined that Armenian aggression resulted in occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands and displacement of one million Azerbaijanis.

Pashayeva underlined the need for Sweden`s stepping up efforts to solve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Azeri MP also spoke about Azerbaijan`s economic accomplishments, country`s efforts towards European integration, gender equality. Pashayeva presented books and materials on Azerbaijan`s culture, history, music, Nagorno-Karabakh problem to the Swedish parliamentarian.

She invited the Swedish MP to Azerbaijan in order to develop Azerbaijan-Sweden interparliamentary relations.
