Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany Guido Westerwelle met with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian on Friday, the German Foreign Ministry reported.
The sides considered bilateral and regional issues, particularly the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Westerwelle once again urged the parties to the conflict to reach a compromise. He believes the status quo poses a significant threat to escalate the conflict and further measures should be urgently taken to build confidence.
Both ministers agreed that the OSCE Minsk Group plays a central role in negotiations and the process could be further supported by the EU in the future.
