Non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council (UNSC) redoubles the importance of issues that Azerbaijan puts forward in other authoritative international organizations, MP, member of Azerbaijani delegation to the Euronest PA Fuad Muradov said.
"Now, all countries will have to be more attentive to Azerbaijan's position," Muradov said.
He said this membership will give an impetus to strengthening of Azerbaijan's position in the international arena.
According to Muradov, it will create another platform for informing the world community about Azerbaijan's realities and its fair position.
Muradov said it is quite difficult to be elected as the UNSC member from the East European region, and Azerbaijan's election is the result of work undertaken by President Ilham Aliyev.
Azerbaijan has been elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2012-2013, gaining 155 votes from the UN member countries.
