Azerbaijan, Australia to expand bilateral cooperation

Azerbaijan and Australia will expand bilateral ties in various fields and strengthen their legal base.

The agreement was reached at a meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Australian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, with residence in Ankara, Ian Biggs, the ministry said on Thursday.

Mammadyarov informed ambassador about the country's energy strategy, as well as Azerbaijan's participation in various regional and international projects.

The FM also spoke about the negotiations to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He stressed the inadmissibility of preserving the status quo.

He emphasized the need for withdrawing Armenian troops from Azerbaijani occupied territories to resolve the conflict.
