20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence marked in Syria and Uzbekistan

The 20th anniversary of restoration of the independence of Azerbaijan has been celebrated in various countries of the world. Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Syria has organized an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of restoration of independence.

The event drew members of Azerbaijan`s Diaspora in the country, employees of the Embassy and representatives of the local community. Addressing the event, Ambassador Mahir Aliyev briefed participants on the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in protection and strengthening of independence. The diplomat added the national leader`s policy was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

Another celebratory event to mark the 20th anniversary of independence was co-organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan National Cultural Center. The event was attended by Azerbaijanis living in Uzbekistan, heads of national cultural centers in the country, employees of the Embassy and journalists. Opening the event, Ambassador Namig Abbasov briefed the event participants on the history of the independence of Azerbaijan.

He also praised friendly and brotherly relations between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
