Azerbaijan National Assembly`s Speaker meets Secretary General of ICAPP

Speaker of Azerbaijan`s National Assembly (Milli Majlis) Ogtay Asadov met Wednesday Chung Eui-yong, Secretary General of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, ICAPP and co-chair of the Conference`s permanent committee. Asadov said Azerbaijan enjoy close cooperation with leading international organizations. According to him, the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, YAP, which has the majority of seats in the parliament, puts special emphasis on relationship with political organizations of various countries. The Speaker noted YAP`s cooperation with political parties of Asian countries was expanding.

“We regard meetings with representatives of leading political parties and discussions of issues of mutual interest as very important. We welcome the decision on holding the 7th General Assembly of the ICAPP in Baku.” For his part, Chung Eui-yong said development of relationship with Azerbaijan was very important for the ICAPP. He added ICAPP had close cooperation with the New Azerbaijan Party. “We are keeping a close watch on the ongoing processes in this part of Caucasus. Taking into consideration the interest to this region, a decision was adopted on holding the 7th General Assembly of the ICAPP in Baku. We consider that this event will give impetus to development of ties among parties and play important role in increasing the awareness of the world community about the realities of the region.”

Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of YAP Ali Ahmadov and other officials were present in the meeting.
