Memory medal on 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence conferred on a number of US public and political figures

Azerbaijani Embassy in the US instituted memory medal dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Azerbaijan Republic.

The embassy said that Azerbaijan’s emblem is described and “The 20th anniversary of the restoration of independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan– 1991-2011” in English is written on one side of the bronze medal, Azerbaijan’s map is described and “The embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the US” is written on the other side of the medal.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to the US Yashar Aliyev presented the medal to a number of outstanding public and political figures of the US for their merits in the development of Azerbaijan-US relations.

Former National Security Advisers of the US presidents Zbigniew Brzezinski and Brent Scowcroft and former Deputy Secretary of State of the US Richard Armitage are also among them.

“The abovementioned persons have made special contributions to the development of Azerbaijan-US relations, always supported Azerbaijan.”

The memory medal was also conferred on the co-chairs of the House Caucus on Azerbaijan – Republican Bill Shuster (Pennsylvania) and Democrat Dan Boren (Oklahoma).
