Azerbaijani Interior Minister Ramil Usubov leaves for Yerevan for participation in meeting of CIS Council of Interior Ministers

On October 13, Azerbaijani Interior Minister, Colonel-General Ramil Usubov left for Yerevan in order to participate in the next meeting of Council of Interior Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The website of the Interior Ministry reported that two-day event will focus on priority directions of cooperation of CIS member states’ Interior Ministries and executive situation on interstate programs in combating crime.

The Council will examine the draft concept of cooperation among CIS member states in combating crimes committed through the use of information technologies. The document contains important proposals that would strengthen the overall capacity of the CIS to combat the organized crime and terrorism.

In order to improve the legal basis for cooperation, the Interior Ministers will consider a draft Protocol on the mechanism for the transfer by the competent authorities of drugs, firearms and ammunition that are evidence in criminal cases.

The meeting will also decide on the termination of a number of the previous decisions of the Council. The Council assisted the development of an integrated procedural system to boost cooperation against organized crime, terrorism and other manifestations of extremism, drugs and human traffic.

At the same time the events of Council of Interior Ministers on the 20th anniversary of CIS and the other issues will be discussed at the meeting.
