Deputy speaker: Women, men have equal rights in Azerbaijani public activity

Women and men have equal rights and opportunities in the state establishment and social activity in Azerbaijan, Vice Speaker of Parliament Bahar Muradova said at a conference on Thursday.

"Women are engaged in social activity on their own initiative in Azerbaijan," she said. "However, their wishes do not often coincide with their capabilities. Gender equality is important worldwide. The Azerbaijani legislation creates a legal base for men and women to use equal rights."

She said Azerbaijan has achieved success in gender equality over the last 20 years.

There is no disparity between men and women in public activity and state establishment.
