President Heinz Fischer gets acquainted with ancient Icherisheher

President Heinz Fischer of Austria yesterday visited the ancient inner city of Baku, Icherisheher.
The Austrian President was informed that Icherisheher, the Old City or Inner City is the historical core of Baku. In December 2000, the Old City of Baku, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower, became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

President Fischer was given detail information about Giz Galasi, the Maiden Tower, its architectural structure and the legend connected with the monument. The Jume Mosque, 2-story Caravansary of XVII century and Mugham Theater deeply impressed the guest.

The Austrian president signed the Guest Book in the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve.
