Bulgarian Ex-President visits Azerbaijan`s Shaki region

Former President of Bulgaria Petar Stoyanov, who attended the Baku International Humanitarian Forum on the "XXI century: hopes and challenges", visited Shaki, a region in the northwest of Azerbaijan to view its must-see places on Tuesday.

The visit started from Kish village where he viewed an ancient Albanian church, which is preserved on the government-level as a historic and architectural monument. Stoyanov visited Palace of the Khans, the city`s landmark monument which dates back to the 18th century.

Former President also familiarized himself with Yukhary Caravanserai (Upper Caravanserai) hotel complex built in the end of the XVIII century and the beginning of the XIX century. Shaki governor Elkhan Usubov presented a memorial gift about Shaki to Stoyanov.

Mr. Stoyanov expressed satisfaction with his Azerbaijan trip, saying “this land has a great tourism potential”.
