YAP not to participate as party in elections for vacant municipalities

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) will not participate as a party in re-elections, additional and new elections in some municipalities which will be held on November 30, spokesman for the party Huseyn Pashayev said.

According to him, the YAP members will nominate their candidates to all vacant municipal seats: “But the candidate will be nominated individually, YAP will not participate in this election as a party”.

Besides, Pashayev YAP will protect its representatives who nominated their candidates individually. Thus, the party will support the YAP’s candidates during the period of agitation campaign.

The process of nominating of candidates to the municipality membership started on September 30. The citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, whose age reached 21, living in the territory of corresponding municipality, as well as the initiative groups of the electors, political parties and blocks can nominate their candidates to the municipal elections.

Elections will be held for 464 seats in 330 municipalities. The last municipal elections were held in Azerbaijan on December 23, 2009.
