Trading and using human organs is completely unacceptable and contradicts human rights, the Head of the Committee on Strategic Programs and Special Projects of the WHO Regional Committee Agis Tsouros said. He voiced his position regarding the use and sale by Armenian authorities of Azerbaijani POW organs.
"So far, I have not witnessed discussions on trafficking human organs at the WHO," Tsouros said. However, he said the organization regards these facts as human rights violations. Transplantation is regulated by law, he added.
"But the illegal use and trafficking of human organs is prohibited. The illegal transplantation and sale of organs is absolutely unacceptable," he noted.
