Vice Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament meets with UNICEF Deputy Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and CIS countries

Vice Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova met with UNICEF Deputy Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe and CIS countries Kirsi Madi, press service of the Azerbaijani Parliament said.

The education of children in Azerbaijan, the protection of their health, the measures taken towards cooperation in the field of lawmaking between the Azerbaijani parliament and UNICEF were discussed at the meeting.

Muradova expressed confidence that this cooperation between this organization and Azerbaijan will give significant contributions to the both sides in the future.

Madi said she believed that after the adoption of draft law on Social services, which is in preparation phase, the situation in Azerbaijan in social sphere would be better. She underlined that UNICEF attached special importance to parliamentary organizations in cooperative countries.

Chairman of the Social Policy Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament Hadi Rajabli, who was participating in the meeting, informed about draft laws in social sphere considered for adoption in the near future.

Rajabli said that the use of Azerbaijan’s law on infant food as a model law in the UN was the result of successful cooperation with UNICEF.
