Many international organizations cite Azerbaijan as an example of organizing and holding elections, the Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Mazahir Panahov said, speaking at the opening of the specialized courses for chairmen of district election commissions.
"Installation of web cameras at the polling stations and other measures serve as an example for countries with long-term traditions of democratic elections," Panahov said.
Panahov said that Azerbaijan has created favorable conditions for electoral commissions.
Panahov stressed that problems of interference among representatives of the prosecutor’s office, police, as well as judicial agencies, have been resolved over the past 10 years.
"If before there was intervention among these authorities and executive powers during elections, this is no longer a topic of discussion," Panahov added. On Monday the CEC launched courses for district election commission legal specialists chairmen.
In connection to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s order "On approval of the National Plan of Action for the Protection of Human Rights in Azerbaijan" these courses aim to increase awareness in the electoral sphere, related to the fulfillment of the CEC’s tasks, and improving training for chairmen of election commissions.
