Azerbaijan does not recognize elections in Abkhazia

Azerbaijan does not recognize the elections conducted in Abkhazia in August 2011, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said in a statement.

"Reiterating its strong support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan states that it doesn't recognize so-called presidential elections in Abkhazia which were held on August 26, 2011," the statement reads.

The statement says the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan fully supports the Geneva Discussions and believes in the importance of constructive continuation of current settlement process toward finding a solution to the conflict.
