Azerbaijani MP voices attitude towards law on tourism

26 August 2011 [18:08] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan’s forthcoming bill "On Tourism" should give a special attitude to the promotion of the country's history, the member of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Culture Committee, MP Jale Aliyeva, said.

The increasing number of tourist sites, reflecting the long history and wealth of the country, is the main issue for Azerbaijan, which is in a state of war with Armenia, she said.

"The familiarization of foreigners with the Azerbaijani history should be an important part of tourism," Aliyev said.

She underscored that earlier tourism was a sphere, which has not developed in Azerbaijan, but the country's leadership pays special attention to this issue in recent years. "sue to this, a law "on tourism" is required, as the work shall be governed by the relevant law, rather than being chaotic," Aliyeva said.

The bill "On Tourism", developed by the Culture and Tourism Ministry is considered by the Cabinet of Ministers and submitted to the Justice Department for approval. It is expected that the bill will be mulled at the autumn session of the Parliament.
