“There is no threat to the life of the employees of the Azerbaijani embassy in Libya.

The ambassador and the embassy staff are on holiday now”, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elman Abdullayev said with reference to Azerbaijani Ambassador to Libya Agasalim Shukurov.

The official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the embassy was continuing its activity and the diplomats will return to Libya on September 5-10 in order to continue the fulfillment of their commitments.

All Azerbaijani citizens registered at the Azerbaijani consulate in Libya, left the country after the beginning of uprising. Only Ambassador Shukurov and three diplomats continued their activity in the diplomatic mission in Tripoli.

Libyan rebels captured capital Tripoli. The major part of the city is controlled by the rebels. Three sons of the Libyan leader are arrested, but Gaddafi’s destiny is still unknown.
