Former PACE committee chief: Armenia`s policy undermines peace and stability in the region

Armenia`s non-constructive policy undermines peace and stability in the region, said former head of the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Goran Lindblad.

“The international organizations and world countries should put up pressure on official Yerevan to make it take a more transparent and open stance in the negotiations to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” Lindblad said.

The Swedish diplomat praised Azerbaijan`s economic and military potential, noting Armenia`s economy will weaken further in case a new war unleashes.

Lindblad said that he supports settlement of the conflict within norms and principles of international law.

Speaking about activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, the Swedish diplomat added that member states must intensify their efforts towards the conflict`s resolution.
