Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the United Nations, Agshin Mehdiyev and Executive Coordinator of the UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund (MPTF) Office, Bisrat Aklilu, acting on behalf of the Azerbaijani Government and the UN Development Programme respectively, on Thursday signed in the UN Headquarters in New York the Standard Administrative Arrangement (SAA) for Common Humanitarian Fund for Somalia (CHF-Somalia).

By signing the SAA, the Government of Azerbaijan has responded to urgent appeals of the Somali Government, the United Nations and other international organizations for international aid to support the ongoing international and national efforts towards the eradication of famine in Somalia and alleviation of the suffering of the Somali people, says a press-release by Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN.

According to the SAA, the Azerbaijani Government has granted 100,000 US dollars for the aforementioned purposes, and the said amount has been transferred through the MPTF Office to the CHF-Somalia immediately after the signing of the SAA.
