First vice speaker of Azerbaijani parliament meets Spanish parliamentarians

First vice speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Ziyafat Asgarov met with a group of Spanish parliamentarians led by the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Josep Antonio Duran, press service of the Azerbaijani parliament said.

Informing the Spanish parliamentarians about the composition and activity of the Azerbaijani parliament, as well as election system in the country, Asgarov said more than 70 friendship groups with foreign countries are working at the parliament and they play important role in the development of inter-parliamentary relations. Asgarov said there were large opportunities for the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Spain. Several important documents were signed between the countries and several documents are prepared to the signing.

Asgarov also informed about the Nagorno Karabakh problem and Azerbaijan’s position on the settlement of the conflict.

Josep Antonio Duran said Azerbaijan had rich natural resources and was rapidly developing. “Spain is interested in the development of relations with Azerbaijan and we hope our embassy will be opened in Baku soon”.

The perspectives of the development of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, sciences, culture, economy and trade, organizing reciprocal visits of the parliamentarians, exchange of lawmaking experiences and other issues were discussed at the meeting.
