
The 38th session of the Foreign Ministers’ Council of Organization of Islamic Conference has started in Astana, Kazakhstan’s media reported.
Making a keynote speech at the meeting President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev called on the participating countries to increase activeness with regard to the global challenges.
Kazakhstan’s President said the organization needs an efficient body, institution or a center that will be able to make deeper analysis, present the heads of states possible development scenarios and variants in the world and inside OIC.
Secretary General of OIC Ikmeleddin Ihsanoglu touched on the situation in the Middle East and North Africa, called to solve the conflict in Syria. Touching on the situation in Libya Secretary General said this crisis must be eliminated politically. He said a high-level delegation was sent to Tripoli. Ihsanoglu called to put an end to the violence among civilians, offer opportunities for humanitarian aid.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov is also attending the meeting of OIC Foreign Ministers’ Council.
