Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev sent a letter of condolence to Russian president Dmitri Medvedev, about a fatal plane crash near Petrozavodsk in Russia. Below is a text of the letter:

"Esteemed Dmitry Anatolyevich!

The news of heavy human loss caused by a plane crash near Petrozavodsk has been a source of great sorrow to me.

On behalf of the people of Azerbaijan and on my own behalf, I offer sincere condolences to you, families and relatives of the dead and all the people of Russia.
