The work report of Political Bureau and Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe has been listened today at the first working day of PACE’s summer session.
The report elaborated by Polish MP Dariusz Lipinski covered the last elections in Turkey, Macedonia and Moldova, as well as the situation in North African countries. In his speech, head of Azerbaijani delegation Samad Seyidov raised question on Armenian delegation’s interruption to the work of PACE Subcommittee on Nagorno Karabakh after its restoration.
“On January 2011, PACE bureau unanimously passed a decision on restoration of Subcommittee on Nagorno Karabakh. This is neither our, nor the Council Europe’s separate country’s decision. It is a decision unanimously adopted by bureau and reflected in declaration ¹ 1416 adopted in 2005. But no decisions and principals adopted by PACE in 2005 were fulfilled. Because Armenia rejects PACE’s decisions, don’t pay attention to them. We would like to discuss the unsettled bitter problems together with Armenian delegation.
That’s why the activity of such Subcommittee is very important. Unfortunately, some of my Armenian counterparts make insincere speeches. In my opinion, it would be better to discuss our problems between ourselves instead of speaking in front of our friends. It would be better for us to pass common decisions on certain issues before the meeting which will be held in Kazan on the initiative of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
