11th EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Meeting to be held in Baku

The 11th EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Meeting will start in Baku on June 20, the Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Roland Kobia said.

The meeting will last for two days. The European and Azerbaijani parliamentarians will discuss the whole range of the EU-Azerbaijan cooperation, he said.

The discussions will focus on further development of the Parliamentary cooperation, political situation in the country, fundamental freedoms, media situation, as well as the ongoing negotiations on the Association agreement between the two sides.

The MEPs will meet NGOs, independent media and opposition leaders in Baku. On official level the meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Ministers of Justice and Ministers of Health are also expected to be held, the EU Delegation press-service said.

The eight members of the European Parliament are led by Milan Cabrnoch, European Conservatives and Reformists Group from Czech Republic, Chair of the EU-Azerbaijan Delegation.

The Azerbaijani side will be presented by Valeh Alasgarov, the Head of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee in the Azerbaijani Parliament.

The regular meetings of the Committee are held in Brussels and Baku on rotation.
