
Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov started his official visit to the Kingdom of Spain.
Press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan said that it is the first official visit between the two countries after Azerbaijan achieved independence.
On June 16, Mammadyarov met with Secretary of State for Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade of Spain Alfredo Bonet. They exchanged view on current situation, development and prospects of the relations between the countries, details of cooperation within the European Union and importance of opening the Spanish embassy in Azerbaijan.
Informing about the Spain’s foreign policy, main trade partners, the 2nd place of Spain after the US for investments in Latin America, at the same time delaying access to the international markets, Bonet noted the interest in broadening relations with Azerbaijan, the activeness of Spanish companies in this sphere.
Mammadyarov noted the importance of organizing business forum between the two countries, necessity of holding this forum in Azerbaijan, underlined the importance of the visit of Spanish high-ranking officials together with the forum participants to Azerbaijan, as well as possibility of signing relevant legal documents between the two countries in the field of economy during that visit.
Deputy CEO of Spanish Company on Export Credit Insurance, representatives of Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and "Tecnicas Reunidas" company supported the importance of holding of forum and noted their readiness to visit Azerbaijan for this purpose.
