Russian President: "In Azerbaijan people do a lot for Russian language development"

President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev has stated that "in Azerbaijan they do much for development of the Russian language".

The official site of the President of Russia informs that Dmitry Medvedev has visited the State Institute of Russian Language named after Alexander Pushkin on birthday of the poet – on June 6.

The Russian leader met representatives of scientific-educational community, associations of the Russian linguists, employees of the "Russkiy Mir" Fund, young specialists in Russian philology, experts in Russian popularization in a global network. During conversation the President informed on his Decree on which June 6 is declared as the Day of Russian Language.

During discussion of the question of growth of interest to Russian language in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the President has been informed that the number of schools with Russian language grows in Azerbaijan, on what D. Medvedev added: "In Azerbaijan – yes, they do a lot".
