Delegation of British-Azerbaijani parliamentarian group visits State Committee on Refugees and IDPs

Azerbaijani deputy prime-minister, chairman of the State Committee on Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov met a delegation of British-Azerbaijani parliamentarian group.

Mr. Hasanov updated the guests on Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He said as a result of the conflict, 250 thousand Azerbaijanis were expatriated from Armenia and 700 thousands left Nagorno Karabakh and surrounded regions.

The damage worth 60 billion dollars has been caused to Azerbaijan as a result of Armenian occupation. On improvement of social welfare of refugees and IDPs, deputy prime minister said 67 new settlements have been built for refugees, including schools, hospitals, cultural and communication institutions. He said Armenia ignores the documents adopted by the influential international organizations.

Head of delegation Marc Field said his structure attaches a great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan. "Armenia is not a rich country, while Azerbaijan is rapidly developing. And Armenia must take this fact into consideration", he said.

During a four-day visit, Mr. Field will visit regions of Azerbaijan to familiarize himself with conditions of refugees and IDPs.
