Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and Geneva Centre for Security Policy finishes training for Afghan officials - PHOTOS

Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) and Geneva Center for Security Policy finished the training for the government officials of Afghanistan. ADA press service said that the two-week training entitled "Course on Good Governance: Managing Transitions" involved 19 officials represented at the ministries of foreign affairs, justice, women affairs, general prosecutor office, parliament and court system of Afghanistan.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the courses, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and Rector of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy Hafiz Pashayev noted that it was the second joint training organized by ADA and Geneva center for Security Policy for the Afghan officials.

Hafiz Pashayev said the training was interesting and useful and contributed to the development of academic and cultural dialogue between the two friendly peoples. Hafiz Pashayev said the training was a part of the non-military aid Azerbaijan provided to this country.

Swiss Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Ms. Sabina Ulmann noted that the ADA’s support to the Afghan officials is highly appreciated by other three countries involved in this project – Norway, Finland and Switzerland. Ms. Ulmann thanked ADA for hosting the project and for the lectures delivered by the Academy’s professors. Then the participants of the training course received certificates.

The Afghan officials listened the lectures on foreign policy, political unity, analysis of the conflicts, anti-corruption measures, confidence-building in the society, combating organized crime, drug problems, establishing independent, free court system, relations between media and government, reintegration of the Afghan refugees and solution of the problems of the internally displaced persons, migration policy of the country, involvement of the Diaspora in the reconstruction work, civil security, supremacy of law, conflict in the pluralist system and establishing the peace, justice and development of education in the civil society.

In the past two years, ADA and Geneva Center for Security Policy organized trainings for 37 Afghan officials in Azerbaijan. The guest also had an opportunity to know the historic and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan.
