MP: ADR restores historical justice

25 May 2011 [17:24] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), established in 1918, has restored historical justice, an MP said.

"The Azerbaijani people have had an independent state for a thousand years," MP Aydin Mirzazade said. "But two empires occupied its lands and divided them in early 19th century. The historical justice was restored after about 100 years. Azerbaijani people fulfilled the dream of free life."

He said the republic has done a lot and could serve as a national model of sustainable development for the region.

It has taken several actions to ensure the rights and freedoms of citizens. It sent hundreds of young people to study in Europe to ensure their future for 23 months of its existence.

"But, unfortunately, the course of history and the war of the artificially created Armenian state against Azerbaijan shortened the lifetime of the ADR," he said. "The claims of Soviet Russia against Azerbaijan played a role."

He said a modern model of Azerbaijan's development developed by national leader Heydar Aliyev is an example of implementing the ADR's most important ideas.
