
A joint appeal by the Muslim religious leaders of the Caucasus to the UN has been adopted at a meeting of the High Religious Council of Caucasian Peoples in Baku today.
"The Islamic clergy of the Caucasus thinks it impossible to use religious ideas in the political struggle and inter-national conflicts, as well as interference in the internal affairs of countries," the appeal states.
"As the Caucasus' spiritual leaders, we are concerned over the non-fulfillment of four UN resolutions on the unconditional liberation of Azerbaijan's territories occupied," the message continues
The appeal was signed by Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh, muftis and chairmen of the Muslim Offices of the Chechen Republic, Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia - Alania, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Adygeya, Republic of Kalmykia.
