The Turkic-speaking countries should increase the inter-parliamentary ties, Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov said in Astana at a meeting with the speaker of the Kazakh Senate (upper house of parliament) Kairat Mamie.
"We have common roots and a common culture. It behooves us, the Turkic-speaking countries, to become more proximate in the 21st century," he added.
Asadov said Azerbaijan hopes that Kazakhstan as the TurkPA chairman will be able to bring together all the Turkic-speaking countries here.
"Kazakhstan is recognized worldwide and is the South Caucasus leader in Central Asia and Azerbaijan. Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan should converge in order to provide greater future prosperity between these two brotherly nations," Asadov said.
