27 April 2011 [11:35] - TODAY.AZ
Hungary recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and inviolability. It is a supporter of resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of the norms and principles of the international law, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Hungary Vilayat Guliyev said.

"Hungary is a supporter of resolving the conflict on the basis of norms and principles of the international law, the territorial integrity," he said in an interview with Trend. "It stands for executing four UN resolutions related to the settlement of the conflict."

He said the issue is sensitive. It is also important for Hungary. As a result of two world wars in the 20th century, the country lost much of its territory.

Hungarians living in neighboring countries face difficulties. Thus, the problems faced by Azerbaijan are viewed with understanding, the ambassador said.

Hungary 's position on a fair solution to the conflict was reflected in the joint declaration adopted during the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Budapest in February 2009, as well as the documents signed at the level of foreign ministers, he said.

After the parliamentary elections in the country on May 31 last year, a statement released by the Foreign Ministry of Hungary also supports Azerbaijan's just position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, based on the international law.
