Nakhchivan Supreme Assembly's Chairman meets U.S. ambassador

Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov yesterday met here U.S. ambassador Mattew Bryza.

Talibov described Bryza's first visit to Nakhchivan as his attention to the Autonomous Republic.

He said though Nakhchivan – home of genius people – has been under blockade by Armenia for 20 years, the life style of people here is improving day by day, as today Azerbaijan is developing rapidly.

He also expressed confidence that the U.S. Ambassador's visit to the Autonomous Republic would be fruitful.

Bryza said he heard about Nakhchivan for the first time from national leader Heydar Aliyev. The diplomat added her wife, who is of Turkish origin, gave him detailed information about the Autonomous Republic, as well. The ambassador described his visit to Nakhchivan as a sign of respect for the Autonomous Republic.

The sides praised the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the United States and discussed issues of mutual interest.
