
Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ogtay Asadov met Latvian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hardijs Baumanis on Tuesday.
The Azeri Speaker noted close ties between the countries. He said that reciprocal visits and meetings of the heads of state play significant role in deepening relations.
Asadov underlined the importance of establishment of mutual relations between Azeri and Latvian businessmen for boosting economic cooperation. He highly praised Azerbaijani-Latvian intergovernmental commission's activity.
Azerbaijan co-operates with Latvia within European Council`s East Partnership Program, Asadov added. He noted that Latvia's Euro-Atlantic integration experience is important for Azerbaijan.
Asadov noted that Azerbaijan is interested in stability of the Caucasus region, stressing his country's role in energy security of Europe.
Speaker stressed developing relations between two countries' parliaments and highly praised activity of friendship groups of both countries` parliaments.
Asadov also provided information on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, expressing confidence for Latvia's future support of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
Hardijs Baumanis, in turn, noted Latvia's interest in boosting ties between two countries in all spheres, especially in economic, cultural, humanitarian.
The sides discussed cooperation prospects in non-oil sector, too.
