Swiss President embarks on official visit to Azerbaijan - UPDATE

Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and President of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey had a working dinner. During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on prospects for relationship between Azerbaijan and Switzerland and economic cooperation.

President of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey has today visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country`s independence and territorial integrity.

A guard of honor was lined up for the Swiss President here. Mrs. Calmy-Rey laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument. A military orchestra played the national anthems of Switzerland and Azerbaijan.

Then, President enjoyed panoramic view of the Azerbaijan's capital.

President of Switzerland Micheline Calmy-Rey has today visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev.

The President also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

President of the Swiss Confederation Micheline Calmy-Rey has today arrived on an official visit to Azerbaijan. At the airport, the Swiss President was welcomed by First Deputy Premier of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov and other officials.

Calmy-Rey and Yagub Eyyubov had a brief conversation at the airport's VIP room.
