
President of Tatarstan Republic Rustam Minnikhanov has today visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of architect and founder of Azerbaijani state, national leader Heydar Aliyev.
Minnikhanov also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
After that he visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who laid
down their lives for the country`s independence and territorial
integrity. The President laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame
monument.
Mr. Minnikhanov also enjoyed a panoramic view of the
Azerbaijan`s capital.
Next, Rustam Minnikhanov has today visited the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The President was told the main goal of the Foundation is to study and popularize national leader Heydar Aliyev`s rich heritage, give an idea to the future generations about his large-scale activity to achieve Azerbaijan`s socio-economic, cultural progress, and assist projects promoting the country`s history and culture.
Mr. Minnikhanov saw exhibits taken from the archive of the national leader and reflecting his childhood, youth, university years and career, pictures covering the very various moments of his life and giving a comprehensive idea of the whole history of Azerbaijan, photos taken with figures of science, culture and art, leaders of different countries.
The Tatarstan`s President signed the Foundation`s Guest book. The President gave a keepsake to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Rustam Minnikhanov was also presented with the Foundation`s keepsake.
After visiting Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Rustam Minnikhanov also toured the Icheri Sheher, a historic core of Azerbaijan`s capital. The President was informed about the old city, which was included in the UNESCO`s World Heritage List.
Minnikhanov visited the Maiden Tower, the Palace of Shirvanshahs and Mohammad Mosque. The Tatar President signed the Icheri Sheher honorary guests book, and was presented with keepsakes.
