Baku to host 61st session of Regional Committee for Europe of WHO

Director of Regional Committee for Europe of World Health Organization (WHO) Zuzsanna Jakab has today held a briefing here to inform that the 61st session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe will take place in Baku, on 12–15 September.

Mr. Jakab touched on social and healthcare reforms carried out in the country in recent years. Health ministers from 53 country will participate in the session. An introduction of innovations in the health sector, strengthening health system in the WHO European Region and other issues will be discussed in the event. Jakab said Azerbaijan government and WHO Regional Committee for Europe are expected to sign a two-year accord during the Baku meeting.

Following a news conference, Azerbaijani Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev met with the delegation led by Mr. Jakab. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the sides during the meeting.
