
Joint discussions of political parties and government representatives organized by the OSCE Office in Baku will be held on March 7-8. APA reports that experts from OSCE’s main office have been invited in capacity of speakers.
Senior officials of Azerbaijan’s Presidential Administration, government representatives, parliamentarians and representatives of political parties are invited to the event.
Financing of political parties and parties’ role in the political system will be discussed during the event.
According to the OSCE’s website, these events will bring together senior officials of the Presidential Administration and the Parliament as well as representatives of 18 political parties to discuss political party legislation of Azerbaijan.
The objective of the events is to assist the Azerbaijani Government with the improvement of political party regulation. The participants will be briefed on the 2010 ODIHR and Venice Commission Guidelines on Political Party Regulation, and discuss possible improvements to the 1992 Law on Political Parties of the Republic of Azerbaijan that would reflect international practice.
