Funeral ceremony held for deceased Azerbaijani ambassador in Baku

The funeral ceremony of Azerbaijani ambassador to Austria Fuad Ismayilov has been held in Baku today. He died on Feb. 23 after a long illness in Vienna. The farewell ceremony was organized at Tezepir mosque.

The senior representatives of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, ministries, intellectuals, and foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Azerbaijan attended the funeral ceremony. Ismayilov was born in Baku on April 26, 1968.

He graduated from the Arabic Department of the Oriental Studies Faculty at Baku State University. He worked in the Presidential Apparatus and various Azerbaijani diplomatic missions abroad. Ismayilov led the Azerbaijani Embassy in Austria since 2005.

Ismayilov was also Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE, a number of international organizations and Azerbaijan's ambassador to Slovakia, and Slovenia.
