
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and his Ukrainian counterpart Konstantin Grishenko met in Kiev on Feb. 23.
The talks included a range of questions of Azerbaijan-Ukraine cooperation, in the context of realization of agreements reached as a result of the II session of the Council of the presidents of Ukraine and Azerbaijan held in October 210 in Kiev.
It was noted that dynamic development in the energy sphere that was promoted by singing of bilateral documents related to oil and natural gas transit, quick increase of trade turnover volume that doubled in 2010 in comparison with the 2019.
A mutual interest in further deepening of cooperation in the transport sphere, including the prospects of joining of Azerbaijan to the route of combined transportation “Viking” was also confirmed.
The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Ukraine also exchanged views on some regional and international questions of cooperation.
Azerbaijan`s foreign minister expressed gratitude to Ukrainian side for assistance in evacuation of Azerbaijani citizens from Libya.
Mammadyarov is expected also to meet head of the Ukrainian state in the frame of meeting of the foreign ministers of GUAM member countries.
