OSCE Special Representative for Protracted Conflicts arrives in Baku

Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Protracted Conflicts Giedrius Cekuolis arrived in Baku.
Giedrius Cekuolis refused from giving comments for the press at the airport.

During the current visit he will hold talks with officials of the country and discuss the ways to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict .

Lithuania received the annual chairmanship in the OSCE from Kazakhstan on January 1 . T he Lithuanian authorities announced resolving the protracted conflicts in the OSCE territory as o ne of the priorities of its chairmanship . The South Caucasus countries - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia are the members of the Organization since 1992.

Previously, he worked in the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry. He held the position of a coordinator of the Lithuanian government to join NATO. He is also a co-chairman of the Geneva talks on restoring stability in the Georgian conflict. H e graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations i n 1982.

The Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh and Georgian-Ossetian conflicts remain unresolved in the South Caucasus.
